PKS Depok Tidak Akan Menjadi Oposisi terhadap Supian Suri-Chandra

KPU Depok (General Election Commission of Depok) has announced that the mayoral candidate pair number 2, Supian Suri-Chandra Rahmansyah, have won the Depok City election. Ade Supriatna, the Treasurer of the Depok Regional Board of the Prosperous Justice Party (PKS), stated that PKS will not oppose Supian-Chandra. Speaking to the press on Monday, December 9, 2024, he mentioned that as members of the Regional House of Representatives (DPRD) in the same institution, they would focus on overseeing public aspirations that may not align with the government’s programs.

PKS Stance and Responsibilities:

• No Opposition within DPRD: Ade clarified that there is no concept of opposition to regional governments in the law, emphasizing the role of the DPRD as part of the government in implementing and monitoring regional policies.

• Focus on Regional Development Plan: PKS will monitor the implementation of the campaign promises and programs outlined in the Medium-Term Regional Development Plan (RPJMD) by the elected pair.

• Adhering to the Law: Referring to Law number 23 of 2014 on Regional Governments, Ade reiterated that the DPRD and the regional government work together as organizers of local administration.

MK Appeal by PKS-Supported Pair:

On the other hand, the candidate pair supported by PKS, Imam Budi Hartono-Ririn Farabi A. Rafiq (pair number 1), filed a lawsuit challenging the Depok City election results at the Constitutional Court (MK). The KPU Depok’s recapitulation affirmed the victory of Supian Suri-Chandra Rahmansyah. The appeal was registered under case number 113/PAN.MK/e-AP3/12/2024, submitted on Friday, December 6, 2024, at 22:15 WIB, specifically addressing the dispute over the election results for the mayor of Depok in 2024.
